This place has overtaken the once great, recently lously El Farolito as my favorite. The burritos, tortas, and tacos are all bursting with flavor, have their ingredients well distributed throughout, and are reasonably priced for the Mission. I've tried their chorizo, chicken, carne asada, al pastor, and vegetarian options--all delicious. The only dud I've had was the taco salad. For anyone who doesn't get the appeal of the torta, this one's for you. They know the secret for grilling the bread shut, creating a seal that holds in all the oozy goodness. It ranks with the platonic version of my Northwest Side of Chicago upbringing. Keep up the good works, compas.

I almost always get the prawn super burrito. It's big and tasty, and Taqueria Cancun is open late. There's almost always a line, even though they're pretty quick to make your order, which speaks to food qualify. Pro tip: call in your order, and go straight to the cashier and pay and get your delicious food.

Quite possibly the best burrito I've ever had is the Super Carne Asada burrito from Taqueria Cancún. Super unassuming from the outside, this hole in the wall serves up quick, delicious, authentic Mexican food. We also ordered the nachos to split - don't waste your time with those. The burritos are where it's at - which also comes with a side of chips and salsa. I will definitely be back!

One of my go-to burrito/taco shops in the Mission. Actually, probably it's just my go-to.

Today I went to this lovely place having a wonderful moment in my life. My aunt ordered Wet burrito with Beef and everything in it. It was so Mexico!! I totally into the chilly tomato sauce and the whole favor. F* tasty! It won't be my last time definitely!!

Would NEVER eat. Went in after a night in he mission. Used their ATM to get cash and as I turned to the cash register to order my food a GIGANTIC roach or some kind of bug crawled under the yellow glass where they prepare food. Myself and few others seen this and walked out. I felt bad so I went back to inform them as the bug and they act as if I was crazy and looked at me as if I was speaking a foreign language. I would NEVER eat here EVER. I will also be calling the health department on them because that is out right disgusting and they need to be shut down for sure!! I'm rating this a ONE because I HAVE to.

Been eating here for years. Always satisfied. Great tasting food, reasonable prices. Location is good...alway from the more congested part of the Mission.

This is my all-time favorite burrito place. I typically order super nachos or enchilada combos as a standard practice at taquerias... but I stray away from my norm here. Not quite sure what they put in the burritos, but it is completely entrancing. I enter into an otherworldly eating experience which happens to be the perfect mix of meditative, whimsical and friggin delicious. I'm a better person after eating burritos at Taqueria Cancun.

Mission burrito was on my list of things to get and eat when I was in San Francisco. And did I accomplish it with flying colors with Taqueria Cancun. Best. Mission. Burrito. Let's just say that, as I was walking to this place, a cool 5-10ish minutes away from the 16th st. BART station. So what did I order? Obviously it was a mission burrito. I got the Super Burrito with Al Pastor, and holy shit. It was absolutely amazing. This is now my one spot that I will always visit when I am back in the Bay. The meat was tender, flavorful, and with all the things that come in the burrito it was perfect. By far, this is and will be my go to spot for mission burritos. I may try and go and discover another spot, but if I'm too lazy, this place will definitely stay as my default. If you have a hard time trying to decide what meat to get, I would HIGHLY recommend you to get the Al Pastor because to me that's a winner hands down.

Got the burrito mojado, finished half, was very full but very unsatisfied, and concluded that I should stick to tacos for life. asdfjk; It looked great in pictures, the pricing was not bad at under $10 with complimentary tortilla chips and salsa (tortilla chips tasted fresh and house-made), and I noticed it featured as the burrito for those with a hungry appetite. Sounded spectacular and unfortunately turned out disappointing, at least in my opinion. I know I shouldn't order a wet burrito and expect it not to be wet, but the tomato sauce was quite watered-down. With the tomato sauce puddle and the overwhelming amounts of melted cheese, the flavor profile seemed closer to lasagna. I hate to be such a downer, but my rant goes on: the guacamole was minimal and diluted, and the al pastor was bland and scant--the interior was mostly stuffed with beans and rice, so fishing around for pieces of pork required more patience than a treasure hunt. The redeeming factors are 1) the thought that this may be tasty if I had massive drunchies after partying too hard, and 2) that the lively, colorful ambiance is nice to dine in. I've had a wet burrito before in a not-very-authentic taqueria in South Bay and enjoyed it. Maybe my tastes for Mexican food are so bogus it's with the ranks of Panda Express fans. But to be fair, wet burritos aren't even genuinely Mexican in the first place...

If you are nearby the Mission district, chances are that your SF friends have told you to try the infamous Mission burritos. With so many options in the area (i.e. La Taqueria, Farolitos, TLC, etc, etc.) it's hard to know which one to go to. Taqueria Cancun has been my go-to Mission burrito place since I moved to SF a month and a half ago. While I could walk a little further down the street to La Taqueria (aka the acclaimed "best burrito in the world"), it's really nice to be able to just sit down in the restaurant and enjoy your food without the chaotic crowds of people surrounding you on all sides (which the typical experience you will have at burrito joints closer to the Mission BART stations). Taqueria Cancun has your standard burrito offerings like all other burrito places. $8-9 gets you a standard sized burrito with chips and salsa. I usually get the super burrito with carnitas to satisfy my constant burrito cravings. It should be noted that there are two Taqueria Cancun's in the Mission District. I usually go to the Cesar Chavez one since it is much less crowded than the one near 19th St. If you are just going to grab-and-go, either destination is fine, but if you plan on sitting down and enjoying your meal I would definitely recommend the one closer to Cesar Chavez.

Lovely hole in the wall kinda place, but when you enter you feel you just traveled to Mexico. Vibrant yellow walls and multi colored flags dripping from the ceiling and picnic style seating makes the place somehow very cozy. The service was super fast and they cook everything right there in front of you. I had the cabeza (beef head) and carnitas super tacos. Both were extremely good. Very messy to eat them but who cares when they taste that great, right? The complimentary nachos and salsas were just as good as the tacos. Everyone seemed to be ordering the burrito so it must be good. I'll have to try it for myself and judge, but so far Taqueria Cancun you got my approval!

INCREDIBLE SHRINKING BURRITO!!! Burrito Mojado has shrunk by 1/4 from previously. No longer worth it. Coming here for 5 years. I always order Burrito Mojado price was $6.50 is now $8.25 for Pork or chicken. Not sure why they need to cut back on beans and rice.

Best burritos in San Francisco! Need I say more? My friend who's a local took me here after we finished hitting up the bars. They open really late here, so it's one of the best places to rock after you're done getting sloshed and need something to soak up all the alcohol you consumed. It could just be that whenever I went here I was drunk and hungry, so they made for the best burritos in the world, but that only means you'll also get the same tingling sensation in your own taste buds for these bad boys. And the best part is, this place won't break the bank. Whatever you do, get the burritos!

We wanted some Mexican food in the Mission and someone suggested three places we could go to and some how we ended up here. As far as I know, we ended up at a good place. I split the cabeza quesadilla with my sister and with each getting half a quesadilla and a basket of chips, it was the perfect amount for us since we were going to dessert after. The cabeza (beef head) was moist and flavorful and there was a lot of cheese which I love because the thing I hate the most getting a quesadilla and not being able to taste the cheese. Overall, it was a really good quesadilla and I would come back for another.

Not anything to write home about. Got the chicken tacos, they were dry, overly spicy and lacked flavor. My boyfriend got the el pastor burrito mojado, the meat had no flavor and the enchilada sauce that topped it tasted like it was out of a can. I may be spoiled as I'm used to the tacos in LA, but if this is rated the best Mexican in San Fran that's pretty sad. The food isn't bad, it's just not anything special. The portions are good for the price.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
